It is hard to miss the daily headlines reminding us of the ongoing economic conflict taking place between the world’s two largest national economies, the United States and China. In 2018, under President Trump’s leadership, the United States began placing tariffs and other trade barriers on China with the goal of forcing China to make changes for what the US saw as unfair trade practices. In response, China began to impose tariffs on many products imported from America, including aluminum, soybeans, cars, steel piping, fruit and nuts. The impact of the trade war has brought struggles for farmers and manufacturers in America and has resulted in higher prices for consumers. But what impact has it had on the Asian supply chain?
